Last Thursday, I attended the fabulous Belgraves hotel in Belgravia, London for a Valentine’s brunch, hosted by luxury wedding planner Mark Niemierko.  Valentine’s day isn’t a big deal in our household, so it was lovely to have something to look forward to for this year’s 14th February and it certainly was a fun morning, full of champagne, delicious canapes and the best of company, catching up with old blogging friends and making a lot of news ones!

LAIDBACK LUXURY AT BELGRAVES HOTEL

Belgraves hotel is part of the Thompson Hotels group which has a fabulous reputation in the US and this is their first venture into Europe.  And lucky old us, they picked London!  The hotel is pure understated luxury; cool decor, quirky artwork and an American bohemian attitude make it a great boutique hotel and a definite gem for those looking to stay or enjoy a cocktail or three on their uber stylish outdoor terrace.

A glance around one of their suites – which Mark and his team had set up as if a bride was getting ready, complete with a stunning bouquet by Rob Van Helden and the most exquisite Oscar de la Renta gown, shoes and veil – was breathtaking.

The room decor had the same pared back, relaxed vibe you find in the public areas, combined with the most luxurious of materials and textures and let’s not forget the most gorgeous views across London.  If you are a bride-to-be looking for somewhere to stay the night before your London wedding, then Belgraves should defiitely be on your list!

As a fairly new hotel to London, Belgraves does not yet have a wedding license (although they told me that this is in their future plans) but the hotel would be a great option for a more intimate wedding reception, able to cater for parties of up to 50 people.  Muted colours, luxurious textures and impeccable staff would really make for a rather special backdrop for your celebrations.

EXQUISITE ATTENTION TO DETAIL

Our brunch reception was held in the Snug space in the hotel which was awash with an abundance of roses in the deepest of red, creating a real sense of occasion and decadence.

Cute little details could be seen throughout.  Chocolate fudge cupcakes with sugar hearts presented in a mouthwatering tower had been provided by renowned baker Maisie Fantaisie…the presentation, the icing, the moist chocolate cake…it was all to die for! This was my first time sampling May’s delicious cakes but I certainly hope it won’t be the last!

As with any event, the little details are the things that really make it feel special.  The waiters who served us Champagne, Bloody Marys and a delicious assortment of canapés were all dressed in fun T-shirts branded with “I heart Mr. N” – a slogan that was used throughout the brunch.  This added a fun element to the morning and just goes to show the value of thinking about how you can really bring your design concept to life at your wedding or any other special event.

How perfect for example, would it be to have your waiting staff dressed in vibrant coloured T shirts and black braces for a Fiesta event design?  These little touches will spark conversation amongst your guests and really set the scene for your event.

Perhaps the most fun I had was in the photo booth, provided courtesy of  Booth Nation.  This sparkly booth never fails to disappoint and your guests will love the photo print outs that they can take away as their own little momento of your day!

This really was a great morning full of fun and laughter.  A big thank you to Mark Niemierko for inviting us and to Belgraves for hosting us at their gorgeous hotel.
